Lunch with the Indian Consulate ....

The Insulate General Consulate came in for an incredible lunch prepared for him by Our Big Kitchen.
He thanked Our Big Kitchen for assisting the Jewish community after the Mumbai attacks and recognised that Australia has the 2nd largest members of consulates outside of the world after America.

We hope to prepare and organise lunch and meet with all the Consulate Generals in our Big Kitchen.

Past events at Our Big Kitchen ....

Children from the Yeshiva Chebad Kindy had great fun learning to make and fry latkes in Our Big Kitchen with Morah Adina.

Give the gift of life this Sunday 6th December at Our Big Kitchen

As a paediatric specialist he saved the life of many children.

Can you help save his life now?

Dr Les Markman was diagnosed with leukaemia and his only hope is a stem cell/bone marrow cell transfusion.

Sadly no one in his family has been found matching so he must search within his own Ashkenazi Jewish community for a match.

Save the life of a savior.

All it takes to register as a potential donor is a simple blood test of 2 teaspoons and completing a Red Cross ABMDR questionnaire.

You must be between 18 & 50 years old and would like to give the Gift of Life.

Celebrate the Gift of Giving with a sausage sizzle.
Children will be entertained whilst their parents are tested.
An appointment should be made for your convenience & to avoid waiting.

Our Big Kitchen ... for South Africans

Give a warm welcome.

Dis lekker om ‘n nuwe maat in ‘n nuwe land te ontmoet. ( It's great to meet a new friend in a new country)

You know what its like – you arrive in a new country, UNFAMILIAR TERRITORY. You are disorientated, worried, filled with anxiety and apprehension.

You don’t know many people in this new chapter of your life. It is not always an easy transition. So why be there for those who are going through it now?

Be a source of assistance and reliance to those who feel a bit lost.

Give them tips to adjusting, INTRODUCE them to new people, and show them how to create a new life here that they will love just as much as the old one. A helping hand is always great, but food on the table is always better!

With us, you can make hampers, cook them meals and simply show them that YOU CARE.

NO KIND GESTURE GOES UNNOTICED, AND NO MEAL GOES UNEATEN IN OUR BIG KITCHEN!

Get your children involved ...

Why not get your children involved in the COMMUNITY?

Using our kitchens, your kids are able to bake all sorts of goodies that they then deliver to sick children in hospitals. Not only do your children get to have a great time cooking and LEARNING, but they also get to bring a smile to another child’s face.

You are giving your child the opportunity to perform a GOOD DEED
and be charitable while letting them grow and develop.

You are teaching your kids a sense of charity and reaffirming POSITIVE VALUES within
themselves while brightening the day of another child.

ALL CHILDREN ARE OUR CHILDREN IN OUR BIG KITCHEN!

Book your next birthday party at Our Big Kitchen.
There is a range of children's party packages to choose from.

Make friends fast ...

Make friends fast ...

Help us reduce social isolation!

“Dying alone is more common than we think or like to accept in our
modern society.” It’s not hard to get lost in all the hustle and bustle
of the big city, to find yourself ALONE and DISCONNECTED.

It may not have even crossed your mind that this happens.
Take a minute to think of the people you know –
are any of them lonely, isolated, not really finding
their feet in the world?

Do you know your NEIGHBOURS?

How about your CO-WORKERS?

These people may not have the social
security that you do, so why not help
them out and TELL THEM
ABOUT US!

We offer a great way for those in need
of FRIENDS and SOCIAL
SUPPORT to meet, interact and have
a wonderful time too.

In a fun, exciting and creative
environment, you won’t have any trouble
finding new and INTERESTING
PEOPLE TO CHAT WITH.
THERE’S NO BETTER PLACE
TO MAKE FRIENDS THAN
IN OUR BIG KITCHEN!

Welcome to Our Big Kitchen

We invite you to help yourselves, each other and your communities.

We are a community kitchen, which feeds the soul and the stomach.

The Basic Cook-in:

This is the program for general volunteering. A 'cook-in' is when a group of enthusiastic volunteers come in for a few hours regularly to help chop, cook, pack and generally keep the whole program ticking along.

The ingredients are sourced by Our Big Kitchen. The food prepared is added to a ‘pool’ of food for distribution. Individuals or groups can then purchase this food for a nominal charge (just enough to cover the cost of ingredients and over-heads).

There will also be variations to this.

- the ‘cook-in’ group may be an already established group who are members of one of our constituent organisations;
- the food prepared may be served cafeteria-style;
- companies may provide a ‘corporate social responsibility’ opportunity to their staff (and may pay for the privilege);
- volunteers may produce meals for a specific cause with the food prepared given as a gift to a particular group of people (and may pay for the privilege)
- people may prepare food for friends or family for a particular cause (eg celebration) funding the ingredients themselves.
